Meskwaki Food Sovereignty Initiative has rescheduled the Hominy Demo to be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 4:30-7:00 pm at the Meskwaki Settlement School in the Kitchen and Elementary Gym.

Join Food Sovereignty and the Diabetes Program for a Hominy Making Workshop! It will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Health Clinic Kitchen. This demonstration is free and open to the public, we hope to see you there!
Join Meskwaki Ag and Food Sovereignty as they host their final event of the year called Hunter’s Feast, on Thursday, December 19th! This Feast will be held in the Tribal Center Gym with the meal being served at 5:00 pm.

Join the Diabetes Program and Food Sovereignty for a workshop on Wednesday, October 9th that’s all about Wabikoni! We will learn how to process for drying and freezing, how to save seeds, and how to prepare some simple recipes. This workshop will be hands on and participants will leave with squash to use at home!
2019 will be our first growing season in the Kinship Garden, a communal space where community members can grow together. Those who participate will be able to share in the harvest.
If you are interested in being a part of the Kinship garden, join us at the groundbreaking and planting!

Attention Seniors: From May 7th – May 18th Meskwaki Food Sovereignty will till your garden for FREE! This is a first come, first serve basis – you must have your request in by May 13th.

The event will begin at 5:00 pm and the meal will be served between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. We will be serving a delicious seasonal menu, and we will have a door prize raffle with lots of great things to win including handmade items by local artists and garden themed gifts. Bring your own reusable set of dishes to the Community Meal to be entered in special raffle to win an Instant Pot!
In order to be eligible your “Dish Kit” must include everything you need to enjoy dinner without utilizing disposable flatware or utensils – plate, bowl, cup, spoon, fork, and a reusable bag to carry everything in are the basics you must bring to be entered in the Instant Pot raffle. None of the dishes you bring or the bag you carry them in may be single use paper or plastic!
You may also want to bring a reusable straw, a cloth napkin or towel, and reusable containers to take home leftovers, but these items are not required for the Instant Pot raffle.
Help us be more sustainable and use less single use paper and plastic table ware! Love the earth, bring your own dish kit.
