The 7th Gen. Summer Program

Saturday, June 8th, 2024 – Saturday, August 3rd, 2024

This 8-week university program is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Students experience a full residential program while earning 12 college gredits through a collaboration with an institution of higher learning – including a paid internship experience at the Crazy Horse Memorial. Students complete their first semester through the 7TH GEN. Summer Program and are prepared to continue college, navigate career pathways, and experience community building with other high achieving students committeed to higher education success.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS – ACADEMIC
All students enroll in ED 101 (Strategies for College Success) and AIS 291 (Work/Life Experience), and select two additional courses from the following options:
• ENGL 214 (English Literature)
• ENGL 101 (Composition I)
• PSYC 101 (General Psychology)
• SPCM 101 (Fundamentals of Speech)College credits will transfer to the students’ selected university after graduation from the 7TH GEN.® program (subject to change).

ResidentialEach student will share a private suite in the 7TH GEN.® Summer Program’s residential facility.Internship Experiences – Class AIS 291 (Work/Life Experience)All students participate in a 20-22 hour a week paid, credit-bearing internship at Crazy Horse Memorial®. Internships include:
• Welcome Center •Ticket Office •Restaurant & Snack Shop •Gift Shop •Tour Guide •Information Technology (IT) •Museum and CulturalProgramming •Library
Students are given the opportunity to select their preferences for positions through the application process, but the final assignment may vary.

Tuition, Room and BoardCrazy Horse Memorial Foundation fully funds student tuition, books, and the majority of student food and lodging expenses. Students have the option to deduct their share of the food/lodging costs ($800) from their bi-weekly internship paychecks and they will also have the opportunity to earn back 50% of their food/lodging expense ($400) at the end of their summer through a specialized incentive program. Food & Lodging $800, Room Deposit $50, Total Cost $850

Admission Criteria
• Must be 17-21 years of age and have earned a high school diploma or GED prior to theprogram • Possess maturity to participate in a university program with an intense academic andresidential experience • Meet one of the following 3 requirements:
Earn a grade point average of at least 2.6 (4.0 scale) in high school courses
Rank in the upper 50% of high school graduating classAchieve an ACT composite score of 21 or above (SAT 1070) to qualify for ENGL 101

Application Requirements
• Completed application and questionnaire form
• High school transcript
• Official ACT or SAT scores (if using as an acceptance requirement)
• One letter of recommendation from a high school counselor or core area teacher
• Proof of membership in a federally recognized tribe (Preference is extended to enrolled members of federally recognized tribes, however, the university is open to all qualified students).
