UPDATED FLYER!
October is Nation Construction Month
Meskwaki Apprenticeship will be hosting a “Careers in Construction Month” Event on Thursday October 17th starting at 10am at the Meskwaki Nation Apprenticeship campus 3138 H Ave Tama, IA.
This event will feature local businesses and construction related entities that will help celebrate Careers in Construction Month. (CICM) is a nationwide campaign held every October to increase public awareness of construction careers, to inspire the next generation of craft professionals and showcase the positive impact a fulfilling career in construction can have on individuals and communities.
MNA will also be celebrating CICM with a Resolution by the Tribe designating October 2024 as Careers in Construction Month. The resolution states “The tribal government operates the Meskwaki Apprenticeship program to provide its members training and skills in technical occupations including construction trades, and is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (“NCCER”). Tribal council finds it in the best interest of the Tribe that the Meskwaki Apprenticeship program and tribal government support the goals of the “Build Your Future” initiative with activities during Careers in Construction Month.”
This event already has great support from Meskwaki tribal departments, surrounding high schools, colleges and local businesses. Entities that have already committed to participating are Meskwaki Apprenticeship, Meskwaki Housing, Meskwaki Public Works, Meskwaki Construction Management, Alliant Energy, Marshalltown CC, Iowa premium Beef, Jessica Youngbear Realty, Amwood Homes, and Manatts and more to be added.
The event will feature an Open house starting at the Apprenticeship building, a bus Tour of construction sites, exhibitor booths, hands-on activities, equipment demonstrations and informational booths.
