Diabetes Program to host Walking Series in January 2024

Diabetes Program is hosting a Walking for your Health Challenge in Janaury 2024. Let’s start the new year being health! 30 minutes of exercise each day can improve your health. The Diabetes Program will begin a walking series for one (1) month starting Janaury 1st through January 31st.

Details:

Participants will need to walk 60 minutes for five (5) days each week. You can walk on your own schedule at the Rec Center around the track. Forms will be available at the Rec Center and Health Clinic. Diabetes Program staff will be at the Rec Center from 10-11am and 3:30-4:30pm, Monday through Friday if participants would like to walk with staff.

Ever step you take means a lot!

  • Being active makes your body more sensitive to insulin – which helps you manage your diabetes
  • Physical activity helps control blood sugar levels and lowers your risk for heart disease and nerve damage
  • You feel happier and sleep better

All participants will receive a t-shirt. Participants that complete 80% of the walking series will be eligible for new walking shoes. *To be eligible for new walking shoes, participant must be native american.

**Not responsible for accidents or injury.
