Meskwaki Diabetes Program and the Rec Center are working together to create a 1k Walking Club. The goal of the 1k Walking Club is to walk or run 1,000 miles over the course of a year. Log forms will be kept at the Rec Center for participants to inform staff of miles walked.
All walking/running will need to be completed at the Rec Center. Exceptions are Tribal Ops sponsored walks, or Diabetes Program going on walking trails. Treadmills are allowed to be used. *Incentives will be given to participants at each 100 milestone.
Who: All Native Americans 14+ that go to the Rec Center
When: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025
Why: For your health! If you want to lose weight, build stronger bones, prevent Type 2 diabetes, prevent stroke and heart disease, keep your joints supple and stress levels low, reverse the effects of aging – Walking is the way to do it!
