On Saturday, July 18th, the Chicago Bears hosted their 3rd annual football camp here on the Meskwaki Settlement.
This year, the Chicago Bears brought returning team members Gustavo Silva (Director of Football Development, Chicago Bears Football Club), Lenny Smith (Youth & High School Football Coordinator, Chicago Bears Football Club), and Kaseem Sinceno (Former Chicago Bears Player). Additionally, they also brought Levi Horn (Former Chicago Bears Player), who is also of native descent from the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. Levi has also played football with the Oregon Ducks and Montana Grizzlies.
It was a major success, a record-breaking crowd of more than 100 participants, making it the biggest camp yet. The Bears plan to continue building their relationship with the Tribe, and are in the process of helping establish a girl’s flag football team here on the Settlement. The Bears generously donated flag football flags, jerseys, and $5,000 to go towards the development of a flag football program.
Ketebi to all the volunteers, community members, and participants who helped make this year such a success, and a huge thank you to the Chicago Bears for their dedication to building up future Meskwaki football players!
