Tribal Council Meeting –

Meeting called to order at 10:01 a.m.
Roll Call
Presiding Officer: Troy Wanatee, Vice-Chairman
Tribal Council present: Delonda Pushetonequa, Adrian Pushetonequa, Jarvis Bear, Anthony Waseskuk, Harvey Davenport Jr.
Absent: Gerald Sanache
Staff present: Nakomis Maher, Deputy Director; Bessie Scott, Deputy Director; Bill Thurman, Comptroller; Allison Stewart, Executive Assistant
Tribal members: Ardelia Davenport, Yolanda Pushetonequa
Ascertainment of Quorum – A quorum was ascertained with 6 council members present.
Agenda approval
The Chairman asked for any changes or additions to the agenda. Motion made by Harvey Davenport to approve the agenda. Jarvis Bear seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
Purpose
Selection of Officers
Pursuant to the Tribal Constitution of the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa which states: “Sec. 1. The officers of the Tribe shall consist of a Chief of the Council, an Assistant Chief of the Council, a Secretary of the Council, and a Treasurer of the Council, all of whom shall be elected by a majority vote of the Tribal Council from its own members, except that the Secretary may be elected by the Council from outside its membership if none of the members of the Council has sufficient training for that position, in which case the Secretary shall have no vote.”
Troy Wanatee opened the floor for nominations for the Chairman.
Nominations: Anthony Waseskuk, Adrian Pushetonequa.
Vote: Anthony Waseskuk received 4 votes, Adrian Pushetonequa received 2 votes. Anthony Waseskuk received the majority vote has been elected to serve as the Tribal Chairman. Troy Wanatee turned the meeting over to Anthony Waseskuk as presiding officer.
Anthony Waseskuk opened the floor for nominations for Vice Chairman.
Nominations: Adrian Pushetonequa, Harvey Davenport (declined the nomination)
Vote: Adrian Pushetonequa received 5 votes. Adrian Pushetonequa receiving the majority vote has been elected to serve as the Vice Chairman.
Anthony Waseskuk opened the floor for nominations for Treasurer.
Nominations: Delonda Pushetonequa.
Vote: Delonda Pushetonequa received 4 votes, 1 abstained. Delonda Pushetonequa receiving the majority vote has been elected to serve as the Treasurer.
Anthony Waseskuk opened the floor for nominations for Secretary.
Nominations: Jarvis Bear (declined the nomination), Harvey Davenport (declined the nomination), Troy Wanatee (declined the nomination), Allison Stewart was nominated.
Vote: Allison Stewart received 5 votes. Allison Stewart receiving the majority vote has been elected to serve as the Secretary.
Tom Jochum being present was asked to provide an update on the upcoming vote in Dubuque, Iowa for the Cedar Rapids Gaming License.
Adjourn
Motion made by Harvey Davenport to adjourn. Jarvis Bear seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:47 a.m.
