Last fall, Meskwaki Kindergarten teacher Julie Zuber submitted a funding request to the FLAME Fund through First Lutheran Church in Conroy, Iowa. In December, she was notified that Meskwaki Kindergarten had been selected to receive a $1,000 endowment to purchase indoor recess equipment.
On January 11, 2026, Mrs. Zuber was invited to speak at a reception honoring the FLAME Fund recipients. During the event, she shared a presentation highlighting the history of the Meskwaki Settlement and Meskwaki Settlement School, along with reflections and highlights from her experience teaching at the school.
The indoor recess toys and supplies were ordered the following week and have since been delivered. Jim Buffalo and Vinny Lasley have been incredibly supportive and have worked diligently to assemble the new furniture and equipment.
The kindergarten students are excited to enjoy their indoor recess time during the cold winter months with the wonderful new toys and equipment.
Thank you, Mrs. Zuber, for your dedication and initiative in securing funding for our kindergarten students. Your efforts have made a meaningful difference, and our students are truly enjoying the new equipment. We appreciate your continued commitment to our school community. #WarriorPride
