π Meskwaki Senior Services Field Trip to MNR π¦¬πΏ
Meskwaki Senior Services went on an outing to visit our friends at Meskwaki Natural Resources. Elders had the opportunity to gather MANENNIAKI (milkweed), an important traditional plant, while enjoying time outdoors in the fresh air.
With the help and guidance of MNR staff, the group also got an up-close look at the Tribal bison herd, which has recently grown with the birth of 23 new bison calves! It was a joyful sight to witness the calves roaming with the herd, and a meaningful reminder of the connection between land, culture, and community.
The trip was filled with laughter, learning, and great company. Everyone appreciated the chance to spend time together, harvest milkweed, and soak up the sunshine. A big thank you to MNR for hosting and supporting this wonderful outing! πΎππ
