Hydrant Flushing Scheduled: October 6–10, 2025
Meskwaki Public Works will be conducting hydrant flushing from October 6–10, 2025 to help maintain and enhance local water quality. This routine maintenance is done twice a year to:
-
Flush sediment from water mains
-
Verify hydrant and valve operation
-
Ensure firefighting capability
What to Expect During Flushing:
-
Temporary drop in water pressure
-
Rusty or cloudy water (harmless and should clear in a few hours)
-
Avoid washing white or light-colored laundry until water runs clear
-
Run water until both hot and cold taps are clear before use
After Flushing:
-
If tap water appears discolored, run cold water for several minutes to clear sediment.
-
Wait a few minutes and recheck if discoloration persists—water is still safe to use.
-
If water pressure or volume seems low, check faucet screens for trapped particles.
