ORDER FOR SPECIAL ELECTION
Due to timeline constraints; in accordance with Article V, Section 5 of the Constitution and Bylaws of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa and Article IV, Chapter 2, Sec. 8-4202 of Title 8.
Elections Code of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa; the Election Committee has issued an Order for Special Election; effective October 22, 2025; to break a tie that has occurred in the 2025 Primary Election between two (2) candidates which will determine whose name shall appear on the ballot for the 2025 General Election, scheduled to occur on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
A Special Election will be held on October 24, 2025 in the Gymnasium at the Sac & Fox Tribal Center on the Meskwaki Settlement from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Upon written request, absentee ballots will be made available to those eligible voters who are living away from the Meskwaki Settlement as defined by Title 8. Election Code, Article II. Requests for an absentee ballot can be made via the following:
1. Faxed to the Sac & Fox Tribal Offices at 641-484-5424, Attn: Election Committee.
2. Mailed to Sac & Fox Tribal Office, 349 Meskwaki Road, Tama, IA 52339 Attn: Election Committee
3. Emailed to: [email protected]
All absentee ballot requests must be received by October 9, 2025.
Absentee ballots and voting instructions will be mailed out to1absentee voters on October 22, 2025.
Sec. 8-2101. Eligible Voter.
Except for an election to amend the Constitution or Bylaws of the Tribe, no individual shall be qualified to vote in any election unless the individual:
(a) ls a member of the Tribe;
(b) Is an adult on or before the date of the election;
(c) Was a resident of the Settlement for at least six months prior to the current or any previous election; and
(d) Is currently a resident of the State of Iowa.
