Community members gathered for SettFit Group Nutrition Class #2, “Heart Smart,” at the Meskwaki Recreation Center classroom on Wednesday, February 11.
The session centered on understanding the key numbers that impact heart health, including blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels. Participants explored what these values mean, the recommended ranges to aim for, and practical nutrition and lifestyle strategies to help lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes. The class offered clear, easy to follow guidance for anyone looking to take a proactive approach to long term health. Attendees also enjoyed a delicious heart healthy meal together. Participants also received fun digestive health themed stress balls to reinforce the importance of adding fiber to their diet and supporting overall gut health.
The evening concluded with a group workout, highlighting the strong connection between nutritious eating and regular physical activity.
The next group nutrition class is scheduled for March 25 at the Recreation Center. Everyone is invited to attend and continue the journey toward becoming heart smart.
