The final weigh-ins are during week 12 of our SettFit Challenge. To weigh-in, stop into the Health Clinic on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday – April 6th – 8th anytime between 7:30am and 5:00 pm.

It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the end of our journey! We’re almost finished with with 11 and that leaves only 1 more week to go! The challenge officially ends at 11:59pm on Sunday, April 11th. We won’t be posting anymore leaderboard announcements until the end of the challenge. Announcement of winners will be on Wednesday, April 14th LIVE on our SettFit Facebook group at 11:00am.

Beginning April 14, 2021 Meskwaki Nation Police Department, Meskwaki Elders Circle and community elders will begin meeting every 2nd Wednesday each month from 8-10am to discuss Meskwaki life and Police life to strengthen relations between the two unique cultures.
Who: Community elders, members of the Meskwaki Elders Circle, & members of the Meskwaki Nation Police Department
What: Discuss Meskwaki life and Police life to strengthen relationships between two unique cultures
When: Every 2nd Wednesday each month from 8 to 10 AM. Alternate date: last Wednesday of the month
Where: Lucky’s meeting room located at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino & Hotel (coffee provided)
Why: Increase knowledge of both cultures to grow, blend, understand and share….knowledge is power!
How: By inviting a group of like-minded individuals to a well-rounded conversation about Meskwaki and Police Culture.

- There will be signs posted on various routes.
- Everyone will have an opportunity to win prizes!
- Upon completion of the event, participants will be contacted to arrange the pick-up of goodie bags and/or prizes.

2021 PTEC – Promoting Tribal Economies and Community
COHORT BEGINS: April 26, 2021 – 5 openings available
PTEC is a workforce program from Meskwaki Community members interested in enhancing their workplace skills and learning about food, farming and related business.
Who is eligible?
- Meskwaki Tribal Community members and other Native Americans within the community are invited.
Important details to know:
- Accepting applications for five (5) openings
- Longer season, through November
- 3 positions at Red Earth Gardens (REG)
- 2 positions at Food Sovereignty
- 20 hours of classroom training
- On-the-job training for duration
- Transportation available
- Certification upon successful completion of program
Application/intake forms are available at the Tribal Center Front Desk and HR Office.
Completed applications can be returned to the Workforce Development Office located at: 3134 H Ave, Tama IA 52339.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 within our valued tribal community, interested persons are highly encouraged to get vaccinated. PTEC and the Workforce Development office will continue to follow all protocols such as requiring masks at all times, checking temperatures when visiting tribal offices, socially distancing and frequent hand washing.
