The next Tribal Council meeting has been scheduled to be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in the Tribal Chambers at 5:00 pm.

With Covid precautions Tribal Council Members, key staff and individuals on the agenda will only be allowed in the meeting. This will be a temporary arrangement until further notice.

*Meetings are held on a bi-weekly basis.

**Meeting dates/times are subject to change at the discretion of the Tribal Chairperson.

Meskwaki Health Clinic is offering Back to School Clinics on August 17 from 5-7PM and August 21 from 12-4PM at the Meskwaki Health Clinic.

Please call the clinic to schedule an appointment for your student(s) in 7th-12th grade that are needing any forms for school, including physical forms, sports physicals, dental certificates and immunizations.

SettFit Begins "Total Wellness Challenge"
Wellness is more than just being active and eating well, and this challenge provides an opportunity to explore eight unique dimensions of wellness to help you build a holistic sense of fulfillment and well-being.
Prizes include three grand prizes awarded by raffle of $100 Visa Gift Cards and eight $25 Visa Gift Cards will also be awarded by raffle, along with other swag, along the way! Each person who completes the challenge (and watches the videos) will receive a tee shirt!
How To Enter
The easiest way to participate is to connect an app or device to our SettFit app called “Wellable”. If you have already done this, nice work! You will automatically be entered into the challenge. Your points will begin on August 23rd so be sure and start logging your nutrition and activity points on that day.
Complete rules have been emailed to current participants and are located in the bulletin board on the Wellable app!
Double check that your activity trackers are synced with the app and your sneakers are laced up and ready to go. If you have not already connected an app or device to Wellable, visit the Bulletin Board in your Wellable account and follow the easy instructions to get set up.

Tribal Operations (excluding the Meskwaki Health Clinic and Pharmacy) will be closing today, September 3 at 12PM/Noon.
Monday, September 6 is Labor Day so both the Tribal Operations and the Health Clinic/Pharmacy will be closed due to the holiday.
Tribal Operations and the Health Clinic/Pharmacy business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 7.

This Flu Shot Clinic is open to all Meskwaki and Native clinic patients.

2021 GENERAL ELECTION NOTICE:

NOMINATION MEETING:

There will be a Nomination Meeting on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in the Tribal Gymnasium. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 P.M. Doors will be closed at this time.

If there is no quorum of eligible voters, a second Nomination Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in the Tribal Gymnasium. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 P.M. Doors will be closed at this time.

PRIMARY ELECTION:

The Primary Election shall be held at the Tribal Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 8:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.

GENERAL ELECTION:

The General Election shall be held at the Tribal Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 8:00 A.M – 8:00 P.M.

RUN-OFF ELECTION:

Run-Off Election, if necessary, shall be held at the Tribal Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 8:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:

Upon written request, absentee ballots will be made available to those eligible voters requesting one.

Requests for an absentee ballot can be made via the following:

  1. Faxed to the Sac & Fox Tribal Office, Attn: Election Committee at (641) 484-5424.
  2. Mailed to Sac & Fox Tribal Office, Attn: Election Committee, 349 Meskwaki Road, Tama, IA 52339
  3. Email to: el.committee@meskwaki-nsn.gov

Absentee ballot requests for the Primary Election must be received by September 27, 2021 at 4:30 P.M. Absentee ballots and voting instructions for the Primary Election will be sent out on October 7, 2021. Completed, notarized ballots for the Primary Election must be received by October 12, 221 at 8:00 P.M.

Absentee ballot requests for the General Election must be received by October 4, 2021 at 4:30 P.M. Absentee ballots and voting instructions for the General Election will be sent out on October 13, 2021. Completed, notarized ballots for the General Election must be received by October 19, 2021 at 8:00 P.M.

Absentee ballot requests for a Run-Off Election, if necessary, must be received by October 11, 2021 at 4:30 P.M. Absentee ballots and voting instructions for the Run-Off Election will be sent out on October 20, 2021. Completed, notarized ballots for a Run-Off Election must be received by October 26, 2021 at 8:00 P.M.

Sec. 8-2101 of Title 8. Election code of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa provides the following:

Except for an election to amend the Constitution or Bylaws of the Tribe, no individual shall be qualified to vote in any election unless the individual:

(a) Is a member of the Tribe;

(b) Is an adult on or before the date of the election;

(c) Was a resident of the Settlement for at least six months prior to the current or any previous election; and

(d) Is currently a resident of the State of Iowa

Furthermore, Sec. 8-2201 (a) states:

(a) “Adult” means an individual who is twenty-one years of age or older.

FOUR (4) TRIBAL COUNCIL POSITIONS ARE TO BE FILLED BY THE 2021 GENERAL ELECTION PROCESS.
