This Fun Walk & Run will be held at the Meskwaki Clinic. Registration at 5:00 pm and the Walk/Run starts at 5:30 pm. Route will be to the casino stop sign and back to the clinic.

Meskwaki Youth Program is proud to announce the Veterans Day Powwow Princess and Brave Contest!
Applications are now being accepted for the Princess and Brave contest. The application and picture deadline is October 18, 2019. Applicants must be from 10-17 years of age, and a descendant of a Meskwaki Veteran. You can apply online at > , https://forms.gle/Li71Sgxcf2CrN4Zf6 .

Washington University at St. Louis will be on-site at Meskwaki Higher Education Offices on Friday, October 18, 2019.
Their primary focus is to engage with students about the possibility of becoming a student in the School of Social Work. They have a full-ride scholarship and many other funding opportunities for Native American students.

Meskwaki Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center Presents… “An Evening with Mary Black and Blain Constant”.
Thursday, October 24th from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at the Tama Civic Center (305 Siegel St, Tama, IA 52339).
Mary and Blain are returning to the Meskwaki Settlement for an encore to their Red Ribbon Week performance. This Indigenous duo uses motivational songs and stories to deliver their culturally-relevant message on preventing drug and alcohol abuse by sharing their personal journeys of hope and healing.
There will be a FREE community meal for those who attend this event. We hope to see you there!

The Meskwaki Travel Plaza will be hosting their Trunk or Treat event on Tuesday, October 29th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Meskwaki Travel Plaza.
Judging will begin at 6:00 pm. There will be three (3) categories – Most Original, Scariest, and Funniest. The winners of each category will receive $100.00. *All participants will receive a free bowl of chili!
This is a free event and open to all community members.

Help Fight Hunger In Our Community! The 4th Annual Arrest Hunger Food Drive is currently being held from November 1st through November 25th. There will be Donation bags and/or boxes left at each home and Tribal Office on the Settlement. Your support is greatly appreciated!
During the Meskwaki Veterans Powwow at the Meskwaki High School on Saturday, November 9th there will be a donation box available to place food drive donations.
On November 21st and 22nd the Probation department, Police Department and Diabetes Program will be collecting donations from each home and tribal office, (please leave outside your door).
On November 25th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm community members may come to the Tribal Center to pick-up donations.

Join the Meskwaki Settlement School for the Fall Sports Banquet honoring all 9th through 12th grade Cross Country, Football and Volleyball participants.
This Banquet will be held on Tuesday, November 5th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the MBCH Convention Center. The meal will be served at 5:30 pm and the Award Ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm.

A Nomination Meeting will be held on NOVEMBER 5, 2019 in the Tribal Gymnasium at the Sac and Fox Tribal Center on the Meskwaki Settlement at 7:00 pm.
If the attendance is less than 30% of eligible voters of the Tribe at the first Nomination Meeting, a second Nomination Meeting will be held on Wednesday, NOVEMBER 6, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

Tagaani Demo, Wednesday, November 6th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm in the Health Clinic Kitchen.
Here are a few things you will learn during this demo:
- Learn the process of making tagaani
- Different preparation and cooking options – including traditional and modern methods
- Hands on demonstrations and tasting!

The Meskwaki Diabetes Program will now be accepting recipes for the Healthy Recipe Contest until November 12th!
Recipe submissions can be made by email (see below) or drop-in at the Health Clinic. Submissions must include your name, current phone number and recipe. A prize will be awarded to every submission after the cook-off!
*Please note that a healthy recipe meets these general guidelines:
- Low to moderate in fat content
- Low in added sugar
- Low in sodium
- High in vitamins, minerals and fiber
On November 15th, the Top 5 Recipe contestants will be announced. These individuals will go on to make their recipe at the cook-off. The Diabetes Program will provide all ingredients.
On November 20th, the Cook-off will be held! Cooking starts at 5:00 pm at the Tribal Center for contestants. Voting and tasting starts at 6:00 pm for the public. Come on over to eat some tasty food and to vote for your favorites! The Top 2 recipes will win additional prizes.
