AUDITS MAY BE COMPLETED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2019.
**Required documents to complete audit: Picture ID such as: Current State-issued ID, Current Tribal ID, Passport ID AND original Social Security Card.
**Documents needed for children: Original birth certificate and Original Social Security Card.

The next Tribal Council Meeting has been scheduled to be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 5:00 pm in the Tribal Chambers.
Enrolled Tribal Members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
*Meetings are held on a bi-weekly basis.

The Green Corn Festival is our FALL seasonal meal, taking the place of the former Fall Harvest Celebration. It will take place on Friday, September 13 at the PowWow Grounds. Seasonal meal will be served at 5:00 pm, with dances and other activities to follow. We will be raffling off a variety of door prizes. This is a family friendly event, free and open to EVERYONE.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable dish kits – a reusable plate and bowl, cup, spoon and fork, and reusable bag to carry everything in. You may also want to bring a cloth napkin and extra containers to bring home leftovers. Everyone who brings a complete dish kit will be able to enter to win EITHER an electric flour mill OR a Bass Pro Shop gift card, both valued at $250. These exclusive raffles will only be open to those who bring reusable dishes. Help us use fewer single use paper and plastic products at our community meals!

Join MADAC as they host a Recovery Fun Run and Walk on September 19th in honor of National Recovery Month!
This Fun Run/Walk will be held at the Meskwaki Health Clinic. Registration at 5:00 pm, and the Run/Walk begins at 5:30 pm!
*All participants will receive special incentives.
Route: Start and Finish at the Clinic – Clinic to the Casino stop sign and back. Seniors may walk at their own discretion.

Meskwaki Nation Hemp Department is having a Logo Contest! Artists needed to help the Hemp Department design its new logo.
Submit your design idea to hd.exec@meskwaki-nsn.gov by Friday, September 20th at 4:30 pm. Winner to be chosen and announced on September 25th.

A two-day Meskwaki Traditional Arts Workshop is being held on Saturday and Sunday September 21-22 at the Meskwaki Powwow Grounds. *If inclement weather alternate venue will be the Meskwaki Tribal Center.
The following stations will be set up from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm:
- Woodcarving with Luke Kapayou
- Cattail Mat Weaving with Bess Scott
- Bulrush Mat Weaving and Twined Bags with Nina Young Bear, Brenda Wanatee and Kelly Schott
- Basketry with Toni Lasley
Come on out and try your hand at one of these traditional art forms!
This event is hosted by Meskwaki Historic Preservation and is Sponsored by Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and REWILD/BEWILD.

The Meskwaki Diabetes Program and Meskwaki Ag and Food Sovereignty Departments will be hosting a Home Canning Workshop on Wednesday, September 25 from 5pm – 8pm at the Meskwaki Health Clinic.
Participants will learn the basics of home canning and pickling including some simple recipes featuring seasonally available produce!
Come prepared for hands on learning and to take home samples!

Meskwaki Settlement School is Celebrating NENO DAY on Friday, September 27th!
The schedule is as follows:
8:45 am – 9:00 am – Presentation in the High School Gym
9:05 am – 10:00 am – Neno Day Walk. Walk starts in the commons entrance. **Families are welcome to join us!**
10:10 am – 11:00 am* – Activities held on the Football Field and Track
11:00 am – 12:45 pm – Normal lunch and recess schedule
12:45 pm – 2:35 pm – Rotations in various locations
2:45 pm – 3:15 pm – Dancing in the High School Gym
NOTE: There will be separate schedules for the Rotations.
*Students will stay in Activities until just before their lunch period.

The Meskwaki Youth Program along with co-hosts: University of Iowa Lacrosse Team, and the IA Mavericks Girls Lacrosse Coaches Clinic will be sponsoring a Lacrosse Camp to be held on Saturday, September 28th.
This Lacrosse Camp will be held on September 28th, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm for Boys and Girls in Grades 3rd – 6th at the Meskwaki Settlement School Football Field (1610 305th Street, Tama, IA 52339).
The cost for this camp is $10 per child – cost includes T-shirt and snack.

The Halloween Committee will be having a meeting on Sunday, September 29th about the planning of this years Meskwaki Community Halloween Masquerade.
This meeting will be held in the Tribal Chambers from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.
If you are interested in helping with the planning of this year’s Masquerade Party please attend this meeting.
