A new grant proposal has been made regarding the Meskwaki Child Care Program. A public hearing will be held to discuss the proposed changes, answer questions, and ask for feedback.

The Diabetes Program will be hosting their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, August 25th at the Tama-Toledo Country Club!
*Must sign-up by August 12th!
- 2 person teams
- 1 person on the team must be a patient with the Diabetes Program
- 1 round of golf plus cart paid for by Diabetes Program
- 2-3 teams per hole will play together
- This will be an alcohol-free event

The Green Corn Festival is our FALL seasonal meal, taking the place of the former Fall Harvest Celebration. It will take place on Friday, September 13 at the PowWow Grounds. Seasonal meal will be served at 5:00 pm, with dances and other activities to follow. We will be raffling off a variety of door prizes. This is a family friendly event, free and open to EVERYONE.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable dish kits – a reusable plate and bowl, cup, spoon and fork, and reusable bag to carry everything in. You may also want to bring a cloth napkin and extra containers to bring home leftovers. Everyone who brings a complete dish kit will be able to enter to win EITHER an electric flour mill OR a Bass Pro Shop gift card, both valued at $250. These exclusive raffles will only be open to those who bring reusable dishes. Help us use fewer single use paper and plastic products at our community meals!

Meskwaki Nation Hemp Department is having a Logo Contest! Artists needed to help the Hemp Department design its new logo.
Submit your design idea to hd.exec@meskwaki-nsn.gov by Friday, September 20th at 4:30 pm. Winner to be chosen and announced on September 25th.

A two-day Meskwaki Traditional Arts Workshop is being held on Saturday and Sunday September 21-22 at the Meskwaki Powwow Grounds. *If inclement weather alternate venue will be the Meskwaki Tribal Center.
The following stations will be set up from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm:
- Woodcarving with Luke Kapayou
- Cattail Mat Weaving with Bess Scott
- Bulrush Mat Weaving and Twined Bags with Nina Young Bear, Brenda Wanatee and Kelly Schott
- Basketry with Toni Lasley
Come on out and try your hand at one of these traditional art forms!

The Meskwaki Diabetes Program and Meskwaki Ag and Food Sovereignty Departments will be hosting a Home Canning Workshop on Wednesday, September 25 from 5pm – 8pm at the Meskwaki Health Clinic.
Participants will learn the basics of home canning and pickling including some simple recipes featuring seasonally available produce!
Come prepared for hands on learning and to take home samples!
