The New Year’s Eve Sobriety Powwow was held on Wednesday, December 31, at the Meskwaki Recreation and Community Center and was hosted by Meskwaki Behavioral Health. Community members gathered to welcome the new year with song, dance, and celebration in a positive, family-friendly environment. Doors opened at 6:00 p.m., with Grand Entry taking place at 8:00 p.m. The evening featured host drums Eagle Feather, Meskwaki Nation, and Brown Otter, along with MCs Tyler Lasley and Steadman Brown. Headman Dancer Corbin Shuckahosee and Headwoman Dancer Sade Kapayou led the arena, while attendees enjoyed Bingo, Bone Dice, Bags, Meskwaki hoodies, light refreshments, and prize drawings throughout the night.
