MNR Earth Day Open House

Meskwaki Natural Resources (MNR) hosted its Earth Day Open House on Wednesday, April 22, at the South Farm in Tama, welcoming community members for a day of environmental appreciation.

The day brought together Meskwaki community members, including visitors from Meskwaki Senior Services, who traveled by ATV to the pasture to view the bison herd. During the tour, MNR staff shared that the herd currently consists of approximately 85 bison, with an anticipated 25-30 calves expected this season. The herd is reported to be healthy and thriving.

Environmental Specialists were available throughout the event to engage with attendees, answer questions, and provide educational resources. Visitors also received Red Cedar tree seedlings along with informational materials highlighting plants and animals native to Meskwaki lands.

Thank you to Meskwaki Natural Resources for hosting this Earth Day Open House for the community!
