Tribal Council Meeting – January 31, 2018, 5:00 PM

Meeting called to order at 5:20 p.m.
Roll Call
Presiding Officer: Anthony Waseskuk, Chairman
Tribal Council present: Adrian Pushetonequa, Vice-Chairman; Delonda Pushetonequa, Treasurer; Troy Wanatee, Harvey Davenport; Jarvis Bear (arrived at 5:22 pm)
Absent: Gerald Sanache

Ascertainment of Quorum – A quorum was ascertained with 5 council members present.
Agenda approval
The Chairman asked for any changes or additions to the agenda. Harvey Davenport would like to add Tribal Council travel to the agenda and also add the Executive Assistant position to the agenda.
Jarvis Bear entered the meeting at 5:22 pm.
Motion made by Delonda Pushetonequa to approve the agenda with the addition of Tribal Council Travel and the Executive Assistant position. Adrian Pushetonequa seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
Minutes – January 17 and January 29, 2018.
Motion made by Delonda Pushetonequa to approve the Tribal Council meeting minutes of January 17th and January 29th, 2018 with corrections noted. Troy Wanatee seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.

New Business
Interim Executive Director.
Bessie Scott was asked to fill in the position for the Executive Director position. Motion made by Delonda Pushetonequa to appoint Bessie Scott as the interim Executive Director. Adrian Pushetonequa seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
Elliott Lincoln Farm Lease
Jon Keen presented Elliott Lincoln’s farm lease for approval. The rental rates were reviewed and it was determined that the CSR value index rate for Tama County averages $173.08 per acre as compared to $175 per acre in 2017. Motion made by Harvey Davenport to approve Elliott Lincoln’s Farm lease for 2018 at $173.08 per acre for 885.05 acres in the total rental rate of $153,182.72. Adrian Pushetonequa seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
Housing Committee – Housing Policies and Procedures Amendment Approval
Housing Committee members Mike Stacey, Jana Roberts and Peggy Wanatee presented the committee’s recommended revision to the Housing Policies and Procedures. Motion by Jarvis Bear to table the Housing Policies & Procedures to review revisions during a work session. Harvey Davenport seconded. Vote: 5 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. Put housing meetings on Harvey’s schedule.
Deputy Director (Executive Session)
Nakomis Maher postponed the requested executive session until a later date. She gave an update on the Rob Lowe Success Files documentary series regarding the Tribe’s submissions for the deadline February 1st and the information to be forwarded on the Tribe’s behalf.
Tribal Council Travel
Delonda Pushetonequa and possibly Adrian Pushetonequa will be attending the RES Conference on March 5-8 in Las Vegas, NV; Harvey Davenport and Jarvis Bear will have their answer at the end of the week. Anthony Waseskuk and the Executive Director may possibly attend the Tribal Self-Governance Conference, April 22-26, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM.
Executive Assistant
Harvey Davenport stated that per previous discussion the Tribal Council would like to have a Tribal member selected for this position, then a Tribal descendant would be selected (follow Indian Preference). The Tribal Council will meet with the Interim Executive Director during a work session to review applicants.
