Iowa PBS is on the Meskwaki Settlement today filming for digital features set to air in March 2026. At the Meskwaki Tribal Cultural Center museum, Johnathon Buffalo, Historical Preservation Director, was interviewed as part of their coverage highlighting Meskwaki history, including cultural artifacts and the story of the Tribe’s land purchases. Drone footage is also being captured across key areas of the Settlement, including historic land associated with the original 1857 purchase. The project centers on the Meskwaki people’s enduring connection to our homeland and our unique history as the only Native nation in the United States to reclaim our land through collective private purchase.
