MSS vs BCLUW Round 1

The Meskwaki Settlement Lady Warriors opened postseason play in dominant fashion in Round 1 of the Class 1A Regionals, defeating BCLUW 67 to 19 in varsity action at Meskwaki Settlement School.

Meskwaki, now 17 and 3 on the season, controlled the game from start to finish with strong defense and balanced scoring. The Lady Warriors shot 48.2 percent from the field and forced 26 turnovers, turning defense into offense throughout the night. They also won the battle on the boards, outrebounding BCLUW 36 to 21.

Freshman Bree Scabbyrobe led the way with 24 points, including three three pointers, and added 9 rebounds. Fellow freshman Martha Blackcloud scored 20 points and came up big defensively with 6 steals. Junior Eva Roberts contributed 13 points to round out the double digit scorers. Junior Eva Roberts contributed 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting. On the boards, Isabella Bear recorded 9 rebounds, while the Lady Warriors controlled the glass with 18 offensive and 18 defensive rebounds.

With the Round 1 win secured, Meskwaki advances in the Class 1A Regional Tournament and now turns its attention to Round 2.
