Hydrant Flushing on the Settlement

Public Works will be in the area this week flushing hydrants.

What To Expect

• Temporary low water pressure while crews flush nearby hydrants.
• Discolored water (yellow, brown, rusty, or black) caused by stirred-up sediment; this is normal and not harmful.
• Cloudy/milky water from air bubbles, also safe.

What To Do During Flushing

• Avoid running taps, laundry, dishwashers while crews are in your area.
• If water is discolored:

• • Run cold water for several minutes until clear.

• • Avoid hot water until cold water clears to prevent sediment entering the water heater.

• Check water clarity before doing laundry; if staining occurs, rewash with rust remover.
