David Burrell to Retire from Pinnacle Bank

Meskwaki Nation Tribal Announcement
After nearly 18 years of dedicated service, Pinnacle Bank announces the retirement of its Chairman of the Board, David S. Burrell, effective Friday, January 9, 2026.

Burrell’s tenure has been marked by steadfast leadership, deep commitment, and an unwavering belief in the mission and values of the Meskwaki Nation. Reflecting on his time with Pinnacle Bank, Burrell shared that it has been both an honor and a privilege to serve the Meskwaki community and to work alongside Native nations throughout the lower 48 states. He noted that the relationships built over these many years, and the shared work of strengthening tribal financial sovereignty, will remain among the most meaningful experiences of his career.

His retirement comes with a sense of bittersweet gratitude-gratitude for the trust placed in him, the partnerships forged, and the colleagues who have inspired him; and bittersweetness in stepping away from an institution and people who have shaped his professional journey in profound ways.

As he looks back on nearly two decades of service, Burrell wishes to extend special recognition to the individuals who played an instrumental role in the acquisition of Pinnacle Bank in 2008 and 2009. Their vision and dedication laid the foundation for the bank’s continued growth and success:

Tribal Councilmen:• Chairman, Adrian Pushetonequa
• Vtce Chairman, Keith Davenport
• Wayne Pushetonequa
• Jon Papakee
• Treasurer, Frank Blackcloud
• Secretary, Daron Ward
• Edward Kapayou
Executive Director: Larry Lasley
Chief Financial Officer: Ram Dhanwada

Burrell extends his heartfelt thanks to these leaders, as well as to the many colleagues, partners, and community members who have supported Pinnacle Bank’s mission throughout his years of service. As he enters retirement, he does so with deep appreciation, lasting memories, and confidence in the strong future ahead for Pinnacle Bank and the communities it serves.
