One of our top priorities here at the Meskwaki Nation Youth Development Program has been to keep our children safe. So with this being said due to concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus, we will cancel all Spring Break activities scheduled off the Settlement. Cancelled activities include: “Get Air”, Science Center, Bowling and the Mall/Movie. All other activities will remain on the Settlement they include: Basketball Camps, Open Gyms, and the Bounce House will continue as planned. Additional cleaning and disinfecting measures will be incorporated and additional preventative measures including deep cleaning of toys and equipment along with the teaching of everyday safety precautions will be enacted to to keep our youth safe.
We would like to thank you all for your continued support and dedication to our program we know you that you have a choice to participate with us. We really appreciate all of you and look forward to seeing your children at our scheduled on settlement events!”
Here’s a sneak peek of all the presenters coming to the Workforce Development Career Awakenings Expo happening on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 4:30 – 7;30 PM at the Meskwaki Settlement School. In conjunction with Parent Teacher Conferences being held, youth and adults are invited to hear about career opportunities in our community. Be a part of this exciting informational opportunity! Supper and prizes will be served each night!
Are you an artisan who is interested in sharing your expertise in Meskwaki or Native American craftsmanship with youth ages 6 to 13? Do you hope to inspire native youth to learn the skill of a traditional craft? If you answered yes, then Meskwaki Youth Program is looking for you!

MYP’s goal is to provide a unique learning experience for native youth so they may gain the skills and confidence needed to create traditional arts, crafts and attire.

Starts Tuesday, June 2nd, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (1 day is aquatic day)
Will be given honorariums for time worked
Supplies and materials will be purchased/supplied by MYP
MYP Assistants will be on-hand for support
Must fill out application and W-9
Must successfully pass background check

The Meskwaki Youth Program will be having a Boys/Girls Lacrosse Parent Meeting tomorrow, January 15th in the MSS High School Commons. The Boys meeting will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm and the Girls from 7:00-8:00 pm.
Boys Lacrosse is for boys ages 9 to 13 years, there will be a $30 registration fee for each participant. During this meeting they will discuss practice times, knuckle head uniforms, upcoming clinics and lacrosse games and tournaments.
Girls Lacrosse is for girls in grades 4th through 6th, there will also be a $30 registration fee per participant. During this meeting they will discuss coaches, girls team name/logo/colors/uniform, practice times, upcoming clinics, lacrosse games and tournaments.
This will be a recreational lacrosse program for all Meskwaki children.
Join in on the fun during the Meskwaki Halloween Party! Saturday, November 2nd in the MSS High School Gym. Doors open at 5:30 pm, there will be Door Prizes, Games, Dancing and Refreshments!
Party Games begin at 6:00 pm – there will be prizes for winners!
Contest Registration from 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm.

The Meskwaki Youth Program along with co-hosts: University of Iowa Lacrosse Team, and the IA Mavericks Girls Lacrosse Coaches Clinic will be sponsoring a Lacrosse Camp to be held on Saturday, September 28th.
This Lacrosse Camp will be held on September 28th, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm for Boys and Girls in Grades 3rd – 6th at the Meskwaki Settlement School Football Field (1610 305th Street, Tama, IA 52339).
The cost for this camp is $10 per child – cost includes T-shirt and snack.
Meskwaki Youth Program is proud to announce the Veterans Day Powwow Princess and Brave Contest!

We are kicking off our SYEP and SYAP Employment program with Mandatory IDA training. This IDA training is for all SYEP/SYAP employees and their parents/guardians.
Training will be held this evening, Thursday, June 13th from 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the MBCH Convention Center.
