2025 General Election Notice

NOMINATION MEETING

There will be a Nomination Meeting on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in the Tribal Center Gymnasium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Doors will be closed at this time.

If there is no quorum of eligible voters, a second Nomination Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in the Tribal Center Gymnasium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Doors will be closed at this time.

PRIMARY ELECTION

The Primary Election shall be held in the Tribal Center Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Polls will open from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

GENERAL ELECTION

The General Election shall be held in the Tribal Center Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Polls will open from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

RUN-OFF ELECTION

A Run-Off Election, if necessary, shall be held in the Tribal Center Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Four (4) Tribal Council positions set to expire will be filled by the 2025 General Election process. 

Absentee Ballots

Upon written request, absentee ballots will be made available to those eligible voters requesting one. Requests for an absentee ballot can be made via the following:

  1. Faxed to the Sac & Fox Tribal Office, Attn: Election Committee at (641) 484-5424.
  2. Mailed to Sac & Fox Tribal Office, Attn: Election Committee, 349 Meskwaki Road, Tama, IA 52339
  3. Email to: [email protected]

Absentee ballot requests for the Primary Election must be received by September 29, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.

Absentee ballots and voting instructions for the Primary Election will be sent out on October 9, 2025.

  • Completed, notarized ballots for the Primary Election must be received by October 14, 2025 at 8:00 p.m.

Absentee ballot requests for the General Election must be received by October 6,2025 at 4:30 p.m.

Absentee ballots and voting instructions for the General Election will be sent out on October 15, 2025.

  • Completed, notarized ballots for the General Election must be received by October 21, 2025 at 8:00 p.m.

Absentee ballot requests for a Run-Off Election, if necessary, must be received by October 10, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.

Absentee ballots and voting instructions for the Run-Off Election will be sent out on October 22, 2025

  • Completed, notarized ballots for a Run-Off Election must be received by October 28, 2025 at 8:00 p.m.

Sec. 8-2101 of Title 8. Election Code of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa provides the following:

Except for an election to amend the Constitution or Bylaws of the Tribe, no individual shall be qualified to vote in any election unless the individual:

  • (a) Is a member of the Tribe;
  • (b) Is an adult on or before the date of the election;
  • (c) Was a resident of the Settlement for at least six months prior to the current or any previous election; and
  • (d) Is currently a resident of the State of Iowa

Furthermore, Sec. 8-1101 (a) states:

  • (a) “Adult” means an individual who twenty-one years of age or old.
