Meskwaki Settlment
The Meskwaki Settlement located just west of Tama Iowa was established July 13, 1857 when the first eighty arces was purchased. Since that time, the Tribe has grown to over 7,000 acres with more than 1200 memebers.
The Meskwaki Natural Resources Department was established December 3, 2001 with the responsibility of managing the natural resources of the Settlement.
The Meskwaki Natural Resources Department began radon testing on the Settlement in 2002 with assistance of the Radon Control Project Grant awarded by EPA. Over the past four years the Meskwaki Natural Resources Department has taken on the challenge of testing homes/businesses on the Settlement for radon.
