| The Tribe has demonstrated a strong commitment to effectively managing wildlife of tribal lands. An existing Intergovernmental Agreement was renewed with the State of Iowa to cooperate on inter-jurisdictional wildlife management. This ongoing agreement recognizes the Tribe's exclusive jurisdiction over hunting, fishing, and trapping on the Settlement by tribal members and non-members and requires the Tribe to implement laws and regulations to manage hunting, fishing, and trapping activities. |
| The Natural Resources Department works collaboratively with Tribal members and decision makers to develop and implement policies and programs to preserve, conserve, and restore the natural resources of the Tribe. These actions are undertaken to uphold Meskwaki sovereign rights, strengthen culture, provide for future generations and generally protect resources. |
